SLUT SHAMING | Rhiannon-Maeve

SLUT SHAMING

CONTROVERSIAL TOPIC TIME* Over the past couple of weeks/ more over the past couple of days my mind has been turned to the topic of slut shaming . Slut shaming itself is described as : slut-shaming is the act of making, or attempting to make, a person, especially a woman or girl, feel guilty or inferior for certain sexual behaviors, circumstances, or desires that deviate from traditional or orthodox gender expectations, or that which may be considered to be contrary to natural or religious law.

After reading this I began to think of every day situations that I have been around where I have , unknowingly , witnessed slut shaming and not called somebody out for it . For example ; calling a person a slut for wearing a t shirt that you find too low cut or a skirt that you think comes up too high is slut shaming , and also quite disrespectful seeming as if their happy with the person they are shouldn't they be allowed to be that way? The definition of a slut is a woman who has many casual sexual partners but since when did one ladys sex life suddenly become the business of everybody around her .

If a person is wearing an outfit you don't like or has a certain amount of sexual partners that you aren't personally comfortable with I believe you have to no right to say anything about that fact . Someone wants to wear a dress that only just covers their bum? Are they happy with that dress ? Cool , they're goanna wear it and you aren't goanna stop them . Someone want to safely and consensually sleep with more than one person causally ? Are they happy with those sexual partners ? Cool , they're goanna do the thing they wanna do and you have no right to dictate that because their goanna do it .

In the society we live in you probably see slut shaming happen all around you , weather it's with victim blaming In rape cases ("but did you see what he/she/they were wearing ! They deserved it" NOPE NOPE NOPE) or just someone calling someone else out for something's completely unessecary  it happens . And it's not okay .
