QUAND C'EST

As a pretty big fan of Stromae i was very excited when yesterday , a new video for his song quand c'est was released . To be honest I've only ever translated ( or worked out for myself because sometimes GCSE french does come in handy. who knew?) a couple of Stromaes songs and quand c'est wasn't one of them . I just really enjoyed the song for the music and not the actual words themselves .. until yesterday when the video was posted .. then my outlook was oddly shifted .

At first i had no idea what to expect from the video since with stromae it can be a simple , easily understandable video or it can be a really confusing one which will 100% take 3 years for you to figure out (but in the best way possible) . Luckily for me, and a lot of other people who aren't fluent in french , there are english subtitles for this video and if you aren't an english speaker or aren't as fluent in english as another langauge i would recommend translating the song lyrics to your own language .

It starts out with a pretty artsy , almost silhouette like , shot of Stromae singing the opening few lines of the first verse , and thats when the song kind of hit me . Yes , the music still sounded incredibly pretty but all of a sudden the lyrics didn't , they became enough to send a wave of shivers down your spine when you least expected it . It then continues on with Stromae dancing in the middle of an empty movie theatre , where at first you don't notice anything other than a stage but then he begins to be dragged around by almost monster like stems as he continues to dance and sing at the same time . I can imagine the amount of work that must have went into this video to make it perfect and so well thought out like it was

After watching the video i don't think ill ever listen to one of his songs  , or any forgein song for that matter , blindly again . Once you actually take the time to learn and understand (educate yourselves i promise its worth it) the song and the proper meaning behind it , i can imagine it'll become more than just a song to a lot of people .
